Brief - Review of the Official Languages Act of New Brunswick

The International Observatory on Language Rights presents this report on the review of the New Brunswick Official Languages Act. Prepared by Professor Érik Labelle Eastaugh, Director of the Observatory, and Philippe Ricard, Associate Researcher at the Observatory, the report proposes amendments to the Act
, particularly with respect to the language of work in the public service, nursing homes, commercial signage, the obligations of municipalities, the definition of institutions in the Act, the legal recourse provided by the Act, the process for appointing the Commissioner of Official Languages and the Commissioner's power of investigation.
