New issue of the journal Linguistic Minorities and Society

The Observatory is very pleased to announce that the journal Minorités linguistiques et société has published its 17th issue, entitled 50 Years of Implementing the Official Languages Act: Review and Prospects.
This special issue, prepared under the direction of Éric Forgues (Université de Moncton), Patrick Donovan (Concordia University), Érik Labelle Eastaugh (Director of the Observatory) and Lorraine O'Donnell (Concordia University), presents texts from the symposium "50 Years of Implementing the Official Languages Act: Review and Prospects", which took place in Montreal on October 17, 2008. "which took place during the 87th Congress of the Association francophone pour le savoir (Acfas) in 2019, and which was organised by the International Observatory of Linguistic Rights, the Canadian Institute for Research on Linguistic Minorities, and the Quebec English-Speaking Communities Research Network. The papers cover the evolution of the official languages issue and the political context in which it has arisen in this country, the evolution of the Act and its implementation, and the various discourses, debates, dialogues and reflections surrounding the issue in this country.
