The International Observatory on Language Rights

The International Observatory on Language Rights aims, on the one hand, to promote the vitality of minority language communities in Canada by urging these communities to take part in the development of their rights and, on the other hand, to acquaint other countries with the Canadian experience by sharing with them how Canada has dealt with its official languages problems. Conversely, the Observatory hopes to help Canadians gain better insight into the linguistic situation in other countries, thereby providing an opportunity to learn from their experience, and offering different problem-solving avenues.

2 La présente loi a pour objet l’établissement du cadre nécessaire en vue de favoriser l’épanouissement de la francophonie manitobaine et d’appuyer son développement, par le truchement des activités du Secrétariat et du Conseil consultatif et notamment par l’adoption de plans des services en français. 2 The purpose of this Act is to provide a framework for enhancing the vitality of Manitoba's Francophone community and supporting and assisting its development through the work of the secretariat and the advisory council and the use of French-language services plans.
